Prince Alexander Chavchavadze's 19th-Century Palace and Gardens at Tsinandali Estate

During the Rtveli Autumn Harvest

September 2027 · Tsinandali Estate · Kakheti, Georgia

Together with our families, we joyfully invite you to join us in the vineyards of Kakheti, Georgia, as we celebrate our marriage at the historic Tsinandali Estate during Rtveli—the autumn grape harvest.

Founded in the nineteenth century by the romantic poet Prince Alexander Chavchavadze, Tsinandali has long been a gathering place for music, poetry, and winemaking beneath the snow-capped peaks of the Greater Caucasus. We cannot wait to welcome you to the estate for an outdoor ceremony in the historic park, followed by dinner and dancing beneath the stone arches of the open-air amphitheater.

Outdoors in the 19th-Century Park

We will exchange vows in the open air beneath the century-old trees of Tsinandali’s eighteen-hectare historic landscape garden. Originally laid out in the 1830s with rare cedars, boxwood walks, and views across the Alazani Valley vineyards, the park sits steps from Prince Alexander Chavchavadze’s palace.

The Open-Air Amphitheater

As evening falls over the vineyards, we will gather for a Georgian wedding feast (supra), toasts, and dancing in the estate’s open-air amphitheater. Designed by French architect Xavier Fabre within weathered nineteenth-century brick and limestone ruins, its vaulted stone arches open directly onto the night air and surrounding greenery.

September in Kakheti · Cradle of Wine

The Season of Rtveli

September is the most vibrant month in Kakheti: the season of Rtveli, Georgia’s ancient autumn grape harvest. Across the fertile plains of the Alazani River, families and vintners gather in the rows of deep-ruby Saperavi and golden-amber Rkatsiteli vines before pressing the new vintage into terra-cotta qvevri vessels buried beneath the earth.

Tsinandali Estate holds a singular place in this eight-thousand-year tradition. It was here in the 1830s that Prince Chavchavadze built Georgia’s first European-style underground cellar alongside traditional clay qvevri, creating the celebrated dry white Tsinandali wine and hosting poets, musicians, and travelers from across Europe and the Caucasus.

Travel & Stay

01

Arriving in Georgia

International guests fly into Tbilisi International Airport (TBS). From Tbilisi, Tsinandali Estate is a scenic one-hour-and-forty-five-minute drive east across the forested Gombori Mountain Pass into the wine valley of Kakheti. We will arrange group shuttles and private transfers between Tbilisi and the estate.

02

Staying on the Estate

Two hotels sit directly within the estate grounds, a short walk through the park from both the ceremony lawn and the amphitheater: Tsinandali Estate, A Radisson Collection Hotel (designed with interiors by Ingo Maurer and Tamara Kvesitadze) and the neighboring Park Hotel Tsinandali. Room block details will be shared with our formal schedule.

03

September Weather & Attire

September in Kakheti brings warm, sunlit harvest afternoons (22–26°C / 72–79°F) and crisp, starlit mountain evenings (13–16°C / 55–60°F). Because our ceremony takes place on the park lawn and dinner unfolds beneath stone arches, we recommend comfortable footwear for garden paths and a light wrap for the evening air.
